I played on the DSi XL with a big ass screen. Still loved how the games looked.
Emulators that upscale definitely improve the experience though, won't deny that.

I was moreso making the point that most zoomers play the older games on emulators because of price so when they emulate the games without being smart enough to upscale they say the graphics suck. I constantly see threads on HGSS being super expensive. 99% of people who like pokemon and were not toddlers has HGSS. Same people who complain about the jankiness of gen 1. Yeah anyone who was alive when those games came out isn't surprised by it being a kinda buggy Gameboy game from 1997 because buggy games were extremely common during that era. They just don't have a mental reference for that era. Once you start being aware 80% of the fans and this board are out of touch zoomers then things will make much more sense with the shitty opinions.
