What do you think a Heracross evolution would be like? Or a regional variant? I'm surprised its not more popular with GF, I know a lot of people that like it a lot.

GF loves it plenty: game it debuted in gave it a unique encounter method while still being reasonable available to early in the game, respectable stats with an amazing Attack, it was the first Bug Type allowed to have powerful STAB via Megahorn, great abilities, a movepool that’s gotten constantly better, got a it a mega with one of the highest Attack stats in the game, and survived the SwSh Dexit and made it into PLA. It’s one of the only Gen2 Pokémon GF has always loved to the point were they value it more than the actual gen2 starters.

Maybe another type of beetle, maybe one heavier but slower (sort of like a sumo wrestler)

I do remember the Mega evo and it being in PLA, I guess I just don't see it shilled half as much as your average Kantomon.

Gen 1 throws the curve off a lot due to how much Game Freak worships it, especially compare torn the disrespect and neglect Gen2/Johto gets. Butwhile Kanto is the Favorite child only CHARIZARD and a dozen or so other Kantomons get the VIP treatment, the others are mostly just there to fill out the roster for the next Kanto-only remake
