I don't understand why jwnutz is so hated around here. He makes decent-looking fakemon.

Did he do something to piss you guys off? What's wrong with his fakemon vs, say, darksilvania or someone similar. Is it because he uses MS Paint or something?

I just don't understand the hate and I'm curious why.

Ok? It's not like recent gens were any better and he's still leagues better than, say, darkandwindie who's made several dexes worth of fakemon, none of which are good. And yet I don't see windie constantly being shit on.

I mean, sure, people will take potshots at darkandwindie fakemon, but people will actively try to find reasons to shit on jwnutz's art.

A lot of the time, fakemon artists will try to imitate masuda style, but it actually ends up making the design look even worse.

Incineroar is good because it's a starter. What about the literally-just-a-toucan toucannon?

If you cherrypick the best designs in a gen, of course fakemon artists are going to pale in comparison.

That's why you need to take into account the average design quality of each gen, which has been steadily going down.

Paldea's been pretty good so far but swsh mons on average are pretty much a failure.

Again, what makes you say that? The average gen 7/8 design is worse than the average jwnutz design.

Pokemon designs in general have been going down the shitter because of the need to make them easily merchandisable, leading to bland, forgettable designs.

JWnutz's designs aren't constrained by this which allows him to be much more creative with his fakemon designs.

Paldea's a gigantic improvement over Gens 7 and 8 with the only design I'd consider bad/bland being Fidough.

But I aree, that one is a little bland. If the final stage were dark blue but kept the light blue and maybe add some orange accents then that would be literally better than trannyrina.
