i think i want to try hunting the fossil mons, what game would be the best to do it? doesn't have to be gen 8 since i already got the gen 8 fossil monds. i know you can encounter a couple of them in the swsh dlc but would that be faster then sr'ing the fossils?

I got one previously but I want a second one as a living dex autist. Also got Lombre and Swanna out of wormholes, as well as 2 Yanmega and Magcargo but they were dupes.

If Gens 7 and 8 did one thing right was finally taking shinny recolors seriously. I was tired of shiny pokemon being just a slightly darker/lighter shade of the same color or straight up just piss coloured

Unfortunately not all fossils are available on SWSH for such encounters. Some of them are available on Gen 8 only at BDSP but you'll have to resurrect them or breed them, Masudaing should be easier as shiny charm does work with eggs

Yes there is some sort of algorithm to create them (which is why many water pokemon end up purple for example)

When I was a kid, I had a shiny nidoran flee in the Leaf Green Safari Zone. I've decided that I want revenge. Any opinion on which Safari Zone area to grind? I could use the repel trick in the center area for guaranteed nidorina (which has less than half nidoran's catch rate) or area 2 for ~73% chance of nidoran or nidorina. Breeding's a no go because it's slow and the eggs are 50/50 on the gender and repel trick on route 3 only removes jigglypuff.

this might be your best bet since Nidorina repel trick is only 10% encounter so it'll be dreadfully slow,
this with white flute would make it pretty easy and you essentially have a pretty high chance of the female nidos.

I have shiny nidoking (also from the safari), so I was thinking about the center area, but seeing the success rate for the optimal nidorina strat in this guide https://www.docdroid.net/Tx5NbeU/safari-zone-research-pdf had me hesitant. I have a white flute and a lv 28 illuminate lanturn, but the 1% tauros encounter is still rare and I wouldn't mind being interrupted by a shiny tauros or venomoth.

True, but the encounter rate on route 3 is 14% and hatching eggs on Four Island, which I tried to do as a kid, is a chore and there's no way to lean it towards being a female.

Shinies in Arceus are crazy easy to find compared to other games. I got 38 shinies in 145 hours vs maybe 5 shinies across my 1k+ hours on the 3DS games.

I would assume it's because at what point in the game you encounter it. You don't have a lot of options in Colo anyway in terms of Pokemon and I think the best ball you can get is a Great Ball at that point. Also if i remember correctly Dakim's main strat is using Earthquake which Entie is weak to so he will often knock it out on his own.

I am not sure right now. I liked Typhlosion as a kid because fire type was cool. I liked Feralligator as my starter in vc and dude is a pretty cool dragon not a dragon that never gets that cred in debates like Gyarados and Charizard. But so is Meganium and it's grown on me as I've grown too. Tbh, gen 2 has some great starters but are shat on because their stats and move pools were very early gen. I assume the remake improves that to an extent, but I think I'll be happy with whichever starter I get first.

I did put him in the ultra ball, looks nice in it. I then encountered a Shiny Bibarel and screwed up by catching it in an Ultra when it probably would have looked better in a regular ball. It's not a bad fit anyway so it's cool.

This is correct up until the egg group part, only the opposite gender will ever be part of a shiny family.
So if you breed your Male shiny Clefable with a Female Togetic, only female Togepi’s will inherit “shiny genes”.
If you’re ever breeding for 87.5% males you will need to first breed a shiny gene male with a female of the species until
you get a shiny gene female. Then you will need to breed that shiny gene female with a regular male.

If you want it in a custom ball your only choice is RE, breeding does not pass down pokeballs prior to gen 6

As legal hunt, I believe it may be easier. Shedinja is in SWSH raids yes but it is a 5% encounter from a rare den and shiny charm doesn't help my chances. Also, I hate rolling rare dens in SWSH: save, watch the beam of light, reset if not rare den and then once you do roll a rare one you have to check it and then if it is your target you have to wait until all the necessary animations play out and determine if you rolles a shiny or not. I could ask a Discord bot which shiny frames does a raid den have but at point I think it would not be different from asking a sysbot to just make me a shiny Shedinja. All in all I believe instead I can easily tolerate going at it on Route 116 with a 20% encounter (+ Illuminate) albeit at full odds

My Ruby ran dry last year so I decided to hunt on VBA, after going about 15k dry I started schizing out so ran some tests.
Basically found a frame and was able to hit it every time even after restarting the emulator, reloading file etc. which is evidence that the seed was not changing.
Check your stats after reach reset, assuming at least 3/4 of your windows will hit the same frame assuming they are all linked but it depends how much delay there is between each window.
