I lived through pokemania, I owned every single game in the franchise at launch up until platinum, I participated in the Pokemon League Nintendo Training Tour 99' and made it to round 2 with my dumbass 7 year old brain and team made up of level 100 pokemon from missingno candies, I know for a damn fact I am not only older than you but have lived through more of this franchise than either of you fake boomer zoomer faggots.
Gen 1 is an unfinished buggy mess that only succeeded because of marketing. Gen 2 is only barely better. FRLG and LGPE are both objectively better games and LGPE specifically gave me way more nostalgic feelings because the catching mechanics make you feel like you're actually trying to catch a pokemon instead of button mashing, and HGSS are basically THE perfect remakes because they take the best parts of all three gen 2 games and fuse them into one while adding new content and updating the mechanics to be not shit.
Take off the rose-tinted glasses and realize that what you loved as a kid you only loved because it was all you had and that those games are best left in the past and that after gen 4 the franchise basically died a horrible death with gen 5 until LGPE came out as a last gasp of what pokemon could have been.
