For all of their Charizard pandering, they really dropped the ball by not making his team competetive tryhard IV/EV/held item madness like they did with Cynthia in BDSP, considering the potential his team has to be very threatening. At least he has a top 3 champion battle theme

His team was never going to be a challenge one way or another because Dynamax is too broken. I swept him with a combo that ignored literally anything he or any other opponent even outside of SwSh could have done.

Setup Move or MAX Knuckle or MAX Ooze
Then MAX Airstream
Beats literally any team
I used it with Corviknight
Bulk Up into Airstream sweep with Power Trip if more mons left after Dynamax ends
Used the same combo in the Battle Tower and passed the boss fight undefeated

It is to express their different styles. Cynthia is a cold-hearted person that treats Pokemon as tools, so she has an efficient build for them all. Leon is a goofy guy who gets lost easily and gets by on the power of friendship, so his team is less specialized.

No need for combos, slapped that Charizard down with a fat squirrel on +3 stockpile

Turns out his monkey has broken AI and will spam endeavor on Pokémon with leftovers, it's fucking sad actually

Only his ghosts are strong, I will never understand why they didn't use Dragapult instead of Charizard, that's a far better Pokemon to face as a final challenge

I think it's because of the region inspiration. Being based on Western Europe, Charizard is a more accurate representation of their typical dragons. Salamence or Dragonite could've also been options.
