If there isn't, are all pokemn/etc. in the game code?

I'm just wondering if the "National dex" format on the simulator is replicable at all on cartridge in gen 8, or if it's just purely theoretical

Yes the fangame did do what the official game couldn't do. I didn't realize it until now but Showdown does disprove any technical issues with including all the Pokémon unrelated to the visual assets. People who defend the dexcut are even more stupid then I realized. Thanks OP.

Basically cut Pokémon are just empty slots... Everything in SwSh is still organized by National Dex number, to accomodate for Home.
Adding the move, type, ability, stats data for every Pokémon is something that can be done fairly easily...
But adding models is another story. That's why so many people resigned on working on Nat Dex mod for SwSh - what point does it have to add all data if you can't have models?
At the end of the day, Game Freak are insufferable faggots that absolutely should have added back all mons (and moves, I guess) with patches.

Yes, all games have data for all current mons, they just don't let you access them and/or obscure some of them to ease compatibility(because games are still compatible with each other, they just don't let you transfer all mons) and there's item data traced back to RS because that's where the set started.

Also, the game does keep a "national dex" even if you can't see it in-game, so even the mons not in the galar dex are marked as caught if you got them, you just don't have a dex in-game where you can see it.
