PvP and gacha rarely mix well.
It was quite easy to see the difference between a whale and a F2P player.
Masters has a unique niche in focusing on the trainers over the Pokémon themselves.

Masters was not an instant success. It had an initial first week good start which fell off hard, then a middling first year and a half which only picked up to a steady $2-5million/month when they decided to spam limited units (mostly alts of popular characters) which they do to this day
