SM's prerelease season rocked. Remember when the demo came out and the entire dex was in it? Remember when Corocoro was something to look forward to and actually had new Pokemon like Bewear and Mimikyu in it? Remember the early listing of the japanese SM base set booster box and how they accidentally revealed Mareanie on it? And of course Ultra Beast speculation and people connecting dots between the characters and UBs designs as shown in OP. Remember how the starter leaks came out so early that nobody believed them until Mallow was revealed and they were confirmed, and how Masuda was given fan art of one to sign and he said something like "I don't think we've revealed this one yet." Trailers showing new mons, characters or Z-Moves off constantly. And then not even a year later people were already nostalgic for that prerelease season because of how tight-lipped they were about USUM. I remember playing Moon on my shitty laptop and getting all the way up to the dragon trial two weeks before the game released. SM wasn't a great game but it's better than where we're at now. At least there wasn't a question of which pokemon were cut or not.
