They seem to want to try a more standard JRPG system of loot with Pokémon dropping items on defeat instead of us using thief on a species of Pokémon hoping it is equipped with an item we want
We saw this with raid rewards, the main difference is that they want to do it in the overworld, apparently gamefreak wants to create a gameplay loop around a reward per wild battle system
I don't think this will work, gamefreak has several issues with their schedules given their short development time between games and that raises concerns on how much they tested their open world, loot system and leveling mechanics, I have zero confidence in Game Freak doing it properly, fuck it industry veterans of JRPGs miss the mark every now and then and I'm expected to believe game Freak can do it in half their dev time?
TLDR, Pokemon is now trying to be a looting monsters open world game with fixed levels in the overworld and I just don't trust gamefreak to do that properly
