Back when I was like, in single digits, my mom had got me Blue version for Christmas, which I loved to death. A couple of years later, she got me a Gameboy Color that was supposed to be red but it was like, "cherry red" (dark pink basically), and she had my old original Gameboy and got herself a copy of Red. When she played it, she would keep a record of every single pokemon, item, TM and HM that she found in a little notebook (pic related), with her party, items on her, boxed items, and boxed pokemon, with each page being a storage box for her extras, all with the levels written next to them in tiny handwriting, which she would painstakingly change every time something levelled up, or she used an item. I'd ask her if she had something to trade, like a Scyther or something, she wouldn't just open the game, but she would get her little book and check each page before being like "Yeah, it's in box three at level 23". I used to think she was both amazing and crazy in equal measure, but now looking back it's one of the fondest memories I have of her, playing something she would normally have no interest in so we would have something in common. Love you, mum.

>>51661959 My mom's favorite Pokemon was Bulbasaur. I would give her all the Bulb plushies and cards that I ever got. Because of that, it's my favorite starter and I always pick it in a Kanto game.
This is a really nice thread, anon.

>>51661970 Very nice, I think my mum picked Charmander as it was on the front of the box, I'll have to ask her if she remembers, or still has the book.

>>51661959 My Dad was strict as hell about games and tv, only budged for DS with Diamond when I was 15. Still played it 6 years later until he died last September to cancer. Feels just off to touch that brick now.
Love you, dad.

When I was like 6-7 I got a Game Boy Color and Pokemon Red as my first video game ever. I got addicted to it, I wanted to play any time I could, and both my parents were very aware of how much I liked the damn thing. I remember one time my dad asked to play, and I was so happy he was showing interest. I gave him my gameboy, told him you move with the d-pad, and he started walking around Celadon. First thing he does is trying to go into the water that gets you to >It's not letting me move >That's water, just walk somewhere else He turns around towards the diner, then tries to walk between two buildings (the RBY tileset made it look like there was a narrow space between them)>I can't get through again >You can't go in there And that's when he went "This is really hard, here" and gave me my game boy back. It was the last time he ever tried getting into anything I liked.

Their interest or lack thereof doesn't affect my enjoyment
what hurts me is pretty much all my friends stopped playing after dexcut Anonymous

My parents couldn't figure out video games to save their lives, but my grandpa liked to play the Sinnoh Underground with me back when DP first came out. We'd steal flags and chase each other around, both of us cracking up over the sheer silliness of it. I've always cherished that memory, but I never realized how much HE cherished it until he randomly brought it up a while back and started laughing over it again, saying something along the lines of "I had no idea what the hell was going on, but it was fun playing with you." I choke up whenever I think about it. I really love my grandpa, bros...

Okay so basically imagine being 10 years old and not having played a single Pokémon game. Feels off? Well even though I never played a Pokémon game, I was already a massive Pokéfag still. Having watched the anime since my youngest age, and autistically looking through the Pokébip (basically french Serebii) database all day long, to learn... basically everything? Sometime during my 10th year, I ask my dad if we can get a Pokeyman game: as we don't have any Nintendo hardware aside from the SNES, he chose the logical alternative - giving me a fangame to play lol Game had both Kanto and Johto fully playable, as well as most Hoenn and Sinnoh mons slipped in The thing is, we both played it, which led to a very pleasant dynamic of "the database I know by heart gives me a rough idea of where the mons should be, but I could also ask dad if I truly didn't find it". In the end, I managed to catch 400 or so different species before losing my savefile due to a computer change Two-or-so years later, we finally got 3DSes with ORAS, and so we finally got to battle... Let's say he... made me learn about SubSpore Breloom and Stored Power Gardevoir ^^" Those were definitely fun times still. We also had a fuckload of people playing at school too, whether that is with XY or with ORAS. While I continued to play the other 3DS games, SM is the last game he played afaik the Switch basically killed the momentum (not only because of the games being hot ass, but also because of being so much more expensive) Do you guys think I can manage to bring him back to Pokémon this November with SV, now that I got a Switch?
