The series has always had weirder designs that stick out compared to others, I think they can be fun. Designs really only annoy me when they’re conceptually dumb like Stonjourner or Eiscue and/or meme designs to get people posting them everywhere like G-Weezing.

I don't think anyone even knew Venusaur line was remotely based on frogs/toads until let's go or whatever where it hopped around. Other than the warts it really doesn't have much resemblance and is pretty strictly a "monster". That said this new abomination doesn't resemble a frog either and is literally just palpitoad 2.0

I don't hate Bellibolt but for some reason I like it more when I think of it as a generic blob monster than a frog. Not sure why. I'd probably like it more as a frog if it were a bit more frog-like, but I still don't dislike it. The design is such a perfect mix of blob monster and frog that I can ignore the frog bits and just enjoy it as a weird punching bag looking thing.

That's exactly the problem though. They could've made a punching bag monster with slight frog inspirations, or vice versa, and it probably would've turned out okay. All the tweeks to it I've seen in either direction really do make it look a lot better.
Instead they half assed both parts and puked all over it for the color scheme, and it predictably turned out like shit.
