After years of Pokemania and knowing everything from the 1st and 2nd Gen, Ruby and Sapphire got released in my country at the beginning of the summer, before the anime or cards from 3rd Gen got released and before I even had access to the Internet.
Everything was a surprise as I didn't now anything about Hoenn or it's Pokemon. The sense of discovery was unmatched. It's been 20 years and I still remember how it felt to listen to the trumpets for the first time, the awe of every first encounter, evolving a shitty shroomish into cool breloom, the ash on route 113, the tower appearing in the desert, the rain near Fortree Town, diving into Sootopolis city, finding Rayquaza or solving how to enter into a Regi cave for the first time.
It's not the best game I ever played but it was for sure the most kino adventure.
