However, from what I can understand, if there is a chance to have a double region gen, is this, for three reasons:
>Paldea is based on a region that is directly conected geographically to a region that another region is based on (Kalos). This is a feature that it shares only with Johto and that no other region has had arguably.>Isle of Armor DLC shows that it can be posible. Gamefreak may be too lazy to make two regions for a base game, but if they could charge full or half price of the base game for a DLC they could actually be motivated to make a second region.>Kalos debuted in a gen that also debuted 3D graphics. They would have to model the entire region from scratch for the open world format, but they could reuse some assets for some buildings. They recicled pokemon models for three generations straight, so it is not implausible.Sorry for the wall of text.
TL;DR: There is a chance, so people are clinging to it
