Anon, when will you understand that most of this series is representational? Bellibolt’s representative eyes should have been a reminder. Bug being weak to fire is a reference to kids magnifying bugs with sunlight. Similar to how dark is weak to bug- doesn’t make sense if you think of darkness or evil being weak to insects, does when you know that bugs represent hero archetypes in Japanese culture. It’s heroes triumphing over evil.

Dark is literally just "evil" in the japanese versions they changed it to "dark" in English because NoA thought kids wouldn't want to use any pokemon thay have the "evil" type
