>>51672550why do shills always play dumb? op obviously meant he would rather have gyms themed after ways to battle versus the same tired type theme. you know the solution to beat a grass type gym leader before you even walk through the door. imagine if we had more gyms like Raihan's where instead of just lmao here's my type, you can have a rain team, a terrain team, a trick room team, a baton pass theme, some stupid gym with wacky held items, whatever, there are so many ways to play Pokemon and while not all of them are competitively viable, they CAN make for interesting and memorable ingame bosses.
>>51672497this is such a weak excuse, type matchups are the basics of the basics that anyone can pick up from just catching wild pokemon and fighting random trainers, there are so many ways you can teach a new player about type matchups without dedicating the supposed boss characters to them. Alternately Gamefreak could catch up with the rest of the industry and introduce difficulty settings where easy is your standard gym leader team while hard/veteran/whatever are the aforementioned teams build around a style of battle rather than just a type.
there's literally no good reason to argue against something like this, gamefreak is well aware of comp pokemon and the games gear you toward doing pvp as soon as you hit post game, if you really want to die on the hill of "gym leaders are tutorials" then making it so they ONLY teach you about type matchups and maybe what a sitrus berry is, then they do a horrible job. the only reason competitive Pokemon is even approachable is due to years and years of autists online creating guides, not because of anything the fucking game teaches you.
