Something that bothers me about the Dynamax ban from Gen 8 OU is that it has left this generation without an identity of its own, made worse by the Dex cut.
Each generation might have a flawed metagame on Showdown, but at least each of them up to gen 7 has a clear theme:

Normal, Psychic, bugs and glitches

>GSC
Snorlax, Curse, stall

>RSE
Toxic, Spikes, Sandstorm

>DPP
Stealth Rock and lead meta

>BW
Weather wars

>XY
Megas and fairies

>SM
Z-Moves, Ultra Beasts and return of Megas

It was supposed to be Dynamax for SS, now we're left with basically SM's meta but without Z-moves and megas and with 2/3 of the mons that generation had.

I can't see SV being more interesting if they ban Terastal. So basically if BW2 was the peak for the games in terms of content, SM was the peak metagame on Showdown and it's only going downhill from now on.
