>>51682811Coming from what I guess vp would call a normie casual fag (literally, I am indeed gay), even *I* thought Gen 8 was probably the most poorly produced generation they've ever put out.
I have been playing since RBY and lived through it all in the 90's. I have always loved Pokemon, even when I didn't like all the designs or the games or every feature they put in. That being said, SwSh/BDSP/PLA were all let downs on big scales.
SwSh:
The Good: I actually loved a lot of the graphical designs for the towns and world aesthetically, some of the new Pokemon were fun to use on my teams, and getting proper DLC additions that added completely new areas and spawns was something I actually liked conceptually.
The Bad: Everything else. The towns looked cute, but were DEAD. The NPCs were dead. The whole region felt cold and like it was stuck in time. GF needs to invest in getting NPCs to like... move. Do something. Spawn in different locations or at different times like in BotW.
The Pokemon designs were largley terrible and lacking (thanks, Turner). I despised the Dynamax concept and the cheap region-locked method that came with it. The severe lack of trainers made it just... boring. It was lifeless overall, even if it had interesting concepts to work with.
BDSP: The first set of games I have fully skipped, consciously (I was going to skip Let's Go until someone got it for me as a present). The reviews, patches, and just overall look did not appeal to me, especially after learning they removed all Platinum content and made them 1:1 and somehow thought that was a good idea.
PLA: I LOVED the concept and the approach they took. The story itself was interesting and I didn't mind the end goal being to capture the entire Dex. THAT is Pokemon (Gotta Catch 'em All??) and THAT is what I wanted in a game for so long. I liked that every Pokemon was available without the need to trade to evolve and is very solo-friendly. Overall a great game, but the graphics SUCKED.
