No offense to anyone but to me they are the only real pokémon and every expansion only made things worse sorry just my opinion please don't take it too hard.

You're thinking of Gen 3 anon. Gen 2 was still riding the wave of Pokemania, and every single kid at my school had the Gen 2 games and loved them. Masuda has even said that RSE was a difficult time for him because of the big drop in sales figures (Gen 1 and 2 kids growing up and thinking they'd grown out of Pokemon now they were in high school).

Nah, Johto also had many awesome designs as well. After that is when everything was ruined. There were still some good designs, but not in the previous gens proportions.

Pokemon never changed the artstyle, all they did was put more colors that wasn't possible in the original gameboy and the artists don't use watercolors anymore.
New pokemon just weren't part of your childhood, that's all.
