Do the third installations count? Because I love Emerald, Platinum, and Crystal etc. and Platinum is for sure my favorite game even though I started with Diamond, but it's my favorite mostly for all the new added stuff that Diamond didn't have. Diamond is so bland to replay

it's the region you first played with, the characters the Pokémon you first encountered etc

No, my first pokemon game was Blue version and I hate Gen 1 and think it's a mess of unfinished trash surpassed by LGPE and, slightly so, by FRLG.

Well, my first was Sapphire, but my favorite is Emerald, since the third version is always the definitive version.
But yeah, I miss fighting Steven, his Steel team made me realize that if I push through, I better hit hard, and it taught me weaknesses are always useful.

(I flip between Black and Black 2. I honestly prefer the soft reboot and characters and story and pacing of Black more than Black 2, but Black 2 has the PWT and Pokestar Studios (I liked it.)
Also, Black has Hilda in it... But Black 2 has Yancy. It's really a tough call.

My first was gold, but I never beat it cause I got lost a lot. I played Ruby and had a better time. That said, Emerald is my favorite.

Started with Gen 1 on the GB, but my favorite is Gen V. Black and white were so pure, it really felt like they dropped the ball with Gens 3/4 I almost didnt play again.
Too bad all the games since gen v have been bad though

First was Crystal.. I liked it but I was young at the time maybe around 7 so I didn't really get it. I just overleveled my starter and used legendaries to beat the game. My favourite games are ORAS(also R/S/E) and PLA.

it's never been white either lol, after I realized I could have favorites that weren't the most recent games it went from hgss -> platinum -> crystal -> emerald
bw and bw2 have always been the definition of "extremely solid, but not the best" and I don't know why
still great games, just never been the best. i'm thinking the lack of side content since i'm absolutely a contestfag and played an embarrassing amount of pokeathlon especially lol
