any move that wasnt damage dealing simply did nothing (because i didnt know stats existed, and thought the only goal was kill the other guy before he kills you) so i never used them. if trainers used them on me i would be like haha what an idiot he did nothing
i also used to think pokemon should only have stab moves. i didnt know stab was even a thing, i just thought well if its an electric type it should only know electric moves!
and one collective believe between my friends and i was that pokemon would evolve by level (rare candy) if they loved you enough, otherwise they needed an elemental stone. and since as dumb kids we couldnt ever keep track of which consistently "didnt love us enough" it caused me to still be unable to remember which gen 1 pokemon are stone based evolutions to this day... and what levels the non stone ones evolve at
