The ironic thing is I agree that gen2 Pokemon should have given more prominent in the Gen2 games, but pokefans act as though GSC’s odd decisions about certain teams somehow makes GSC unplayable even though regardless of the team the leaders you’ll just click a super effective move there times to defeat time since Pokemon games are for Baby’s first RPG. What’s worse is that it leads to brainless leaps of logic like “Johto can’t stand on its own” “No one uses Gen2 mons because GEN2 POKEMON ALL SUCK” “GSC were CLEARLY rushed” “Diet Kantoooooooo” because they’re too stupid to understand the idea of a sequel.
Fuck, many of Gen 2 Pokémon commonly suggested for the Gym leades actually are used by other important trainers, but the same fans who spend all their time sharing the same unfunny memes about how terrible GSC’s teams are have never actually played them

Murkrow is used by Karen
Natu line is used by Will
Spinarak AND Pineco line is used by Koga
Hitmontop is used by Bruno
And those are just mons that are commonly suggested Erika uses the Hoppip line and Bellosum, Blaine uses Magcargo, etc. and if people want to be clever and say it doesn’t count because those are Kanto leaders tell me why that matters, Gen2 mons are being used by important people, they’re actually getting some spotlight, are Kanto leaders not allowed to use Gen2 Pokémon?
