In Gen 8, you've got Coalossal's Steam Engine-Weakness Policy trick. Just use a move like Aqua Jet while Coalossal is GMax'd and you're good to go... Unless you are playing in Smogon, which banned Dynamax altogether.

G-Max Coalossal won official tournaments anon, you're severely underestimating how hard a +2 Max Vocalith (free chip damage to the entire enemy team barring Fire types btw) based on Meteor Beam hits, especially in conjunction with how fast it gets from Steam Engine.

Those moves are absolute ass in Doubles. You're just as likely to get fucked by a mon without boosts than with one (especially with two potential sources of damage instead of SIngles' one), so you can't afford to waste a turn specifically to clear stat boosts. This isn't even delving into how almost every Pokemon is strapped for moveslots because Protect is near mandatory. Also the distribution of those moves is ass and barely any of the Pokemon that learn them are useful in Doubles, let alone would want to run it over a myriad of other moves
The only Pokemon I can think of who ever seriously ran a stat-clearing move in Gen 8 was Amoonguss, and even then it got bent by Coalossal either way.

I was at a regional VGC tournament in 2016(?) and used a fake tears + special move combo with Liepard and Yveltal to OHKO each of my opponent's Pokemon. He was really fucking pissed.

Coming back almost a day later to say that I'm a complete dumbass and didn't realize you also mentioned follow me.
Follow Me was actually often used to get around it, but not only did people just start running shit like Surf Dragapult and Weavile ro circumvent it (like the other anon said), but in the Player's Cups the mon it was paired with often was Urshifu-S, and you don't want to risk mis-playing and having that mon unload onto your support with a strong move while Coalossal switches out or Protects (if its running the move, anyways. It's one of the few good mons in VGC history to somewhat frequently forego running it.), so it was a constant mindgame.
