There's signs of general laziness, like caves being huge barren corridors with the exact same ore model for every mineral deposit. Even if they had a grander design in mind, the released game is a constant reminder how it could've been more.

I think this was so they could lazily give you a rotom phone thing and do the dimension zone things and add Porygon. None of which were really necessary, I would argue including Porygon is kind of stupid. Also they could have come up with a better solution.
But the games were a fresh step for the series despite being plagued by Gamefreak's lack of imagination and TPCi's refusal to put more money into game development for their franchise based on a game series.

Sure it does, just look at the Gen 1 backsprites. In general it retains its charm way longer than 3D graphics but it still ages. Even the best looking Pokemon game with sprites looks like shit compared to a game with actual good spritework like KoFXIII.

well the graphics are not actually why that game is bad, but yes, a copy-paste of LGPE's graphics would have been much preferable. I don't know why they don't seem to recognize improvement and just change styles haphazardly when LGPE and PLA both got it right in terms of aesthetics.

Really LA is in the same vein as Pokemon Snap, that's kinda what it felt like to me.
Interesting mechanics but overall a shallow experience.
I did onions face at a lot of the references to characters from other gens and the references to gen 4 lore. So there's that I guess.
I think die hard fans of LA feel the same way as I do only I guess it means more to them than it dose to me.

It was never about the graphics on the spinoffs.
It was graphics on the main line game, when they told us they couldn't fit all the new pokemon or features because they were all new models etc etc. When in actuality it was the same shit as the 3ds with a unity asset store "wild area"

Legends archeus, never promised anything. Gave us an entirely new combat and play system It looked like shit. But there's no such thing as a good looking pokemon game past the sprites. Because gamefreak can't actually make good looking games that aren't 2d. It's shilled because it's something new and fun.
