Did the anime stop this from becoming something canonized in the sequels. It would t be the only time different departments literally just don’t communicate. The Manga got the memo, though….

Was probably the original plan, but got retconned when Cilan was made a traveling companion in the anime

The manga also had them wearing elemental monkey masks and using a Grass, Fire, and Water type Pokemon
