My favourite pokemon game.
Every time I go on a flight I bring this bad boy and my DSLight. I just chill in the battle frontier almost exclusively playing one facility: Battle Factory. Sometimes I'll dabble in the others, but the factory is my favourite.

Sinnoh. There are games with good dungeons but Platinum isn't one of them.

This. Hoenn, Kanto, and Kalos are the only games with good dungeons. Gen 4 dungeons suck ass.

I don't particularly care for area design in Pokemon, it's all simplistic at the end of the day. Though I'm not sure what you mean when you say Sinnoh's dungeons are just routes.

because ideally the looping structure will have challenges that actually require you to think and engage your brain, resulting in entertainment. Unfortunately, Platinum isn't very good at that.

Kirby is a children's game too. Although, in both the case of Kirby and Gen 1 (and some other Pokemon games) most of the relatively simple puzzles are optional. It's something nice to have to keep you from going completely braindead.
