When did you lose interest in Pokemon?

I still enjoy coming back to Silver/Gold every now and then but I can't get into the most recent ones no matter how many times I try.

I had fun with Gen 7, but I hopped off around then. I had skipped Gen 6, but eventually decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I was not impressed.
Swish had just come out when I started playing UM.

This. I was legitimately having fun especially compared to XY but for some reason I never finished it. I picked up Sword a month ago and enjoyed the games again. When I saw wild Alolan pokemon I only then realized I just fell off the game. I'm going to try Scarlet but without a substitute for my bros that likely wont make the game, I kinda find it dubious

I was getting older and found other games, other hobbies and other fixations. I still follow news hoping something might reignite the spark of joy I felt playing the new games from Gen 1 to Gen 7, but nothing ever really does.

Gen 3, when I no longer had any friends that played to trade or battle with and the new designs didn't look like Pokémon to me. I didn't buy Ruby or Sapphire but came back to it later when I randomly found a copy of Pearl in a GameStop, and that got me back into it. I've played every new generation as it comes out since then, and am looking forward to Scarlet and Violet.

hung on till gen 6. slogged thru 7 and gave up half way in to 8. HGSS/PL is peak pokemon. 3d and gimmicks made me lose interest.

With gen 7. The only most recent game i truly enjoyed was legends arceus which got me hooked for hours. I hope that scarlet and violet will be as fun, if not more.
