This kind of shit is why modern open world games are so bad. They mistake freedom with freedom of responsibility, being able to ignore core mechanics of the game is not actual freedom it's just bad.
Only good open world games are old eurojank computer RPGs and Elden Ring, basically every other one is watered down consequence-less trash. I thought SV was doing something right by not having level scaling but of course I was completely wrong and they're fucking it up anyway by making playing the game optional.

If thinking making core parts of the game optional is bad is a hot take then so be it.
If they wanted to make trainers optional they'd need to also make it so that you are punished for ignoring them, like being very underleveled, but nope there's the AUTO BATTLING feature right there to save you from having to play the game that way too.
Fucking just have a button to skip to the credits instead and be done with it, nice game retards.

On a side note, I like games that have a credits button on the main menu, but play the credits at the end anyways with some extra stuff.

Not at all. It's great.
The issue with open world games now seemingly including SV is that they think you shouldn't "need" to do anything and thus nothing has any meaning, you have a lot of choices but they don't mean anything. In Breath of the Wild the only reward for engaging with the combat is getting more breakable weapons, but you SPEND breakable weapons engaging in combat so in the end you gain nothing, but it's ok because "you can do whatever you want" which is the motto for open world games now. Same thing for the scaling trends started by Oblivion and Skyrim, you can level up your character but then every bandit is going to start wearing high level ebony/daedric equipment to scale with you so you'll actually feel weaker, might as well as not engage and just bumrush the main campaign since you are punished for leveling up. This is why I praised SV for not having level scaling but it's all moot if you can just level up by not playing the game.
