But tell me with an honest face that texture and animation quality was ever a real concern to general audiences when they ate up Legends and Gen 9.

SWSH currently has the largest pool of Pokémon available in any game released, with well over 700+ available without transfer. It's the third time in the franchise history GF has made it impossible or extremely inconvenient to transfer in some Pokémon. What precisely was different this time about Gen 8? Do you think there's even a fraction of a sizable portion of the fanbase genuinely transferring hundreds of Pokémon each gen and miserable to the point of boycott if they cant use their Greninja for once? I say this as a turbo autist that does maintain a living dex (and then some)
And regarding animations, I also find it ridiculous, to expect (or rather, pretend to expect) Game Freak to throw out thousands of animations each gen, instead of just building upon them as they have been. SWSH added hundreds of new animations for Pokémon, but it doesn't matter because you can post LOL DOUBLE KICK BAD while being intentionally disingenuous about the fact that multi-hits have had Pokémons actual attack animations turned off for ages now to prevent turns lasting forever, and that they don't reflect the Pokémons actual attack animations.
And this isn't some "suddenly people like SWSH now" thing either, I have been calling out this stupid petty hypocritical bullshit for the past 3 years now, and it fucking sucks to see people lapping up Gen 9 when there is zero discernible improvement from any of the so-called dealbreakers of SWSH.
