I have never once encountered a shiny pokemon in my 14 years of playing this franchise

I have 45 shinies on PLA alone plus a shiny Noctowl from Y, a shiny Breloom and Exploud from ORAS. I also got a shiny Dragonite from an egg and I vaguely remember maybe getting a shiny Ralts also from an egg but I'm not quite sure on that one.

Play PLA or Go. Never played PLA (Switch is fucked) but Go shinies seem easy as dick.

You probably use too much repels, it is easy to encounter one in the really annoying places with a lot of wild encounters (caves and sea routes).

Stop using Repels. I "didn't want to waste money" when I played through the games as a kid, so I've run into about 50 non-scripted shinies in my time (plus 30 Gyarados, funny enough one of them was a Magikarp as I was attempting to IV breed via (poorly) following an online guide.
Lucky that Golem, Pidgeot, Mightyena Linoone and Tentacruel all have baller shiny colorings.

I have only gotten a shiny in remakes lol
ORAS shiny wurmple wild encounter (fucking dustox fuck)
BDSP shiny rotom (hatched from masuda method but was not trying for shiny, just wanted good IVs, it ended up with 4 and only needed 1 bottle cap)
