People really don't understand what size means in video games. It means you're going to walk more. You can generate an empty landscape in minecraft. Oh noes its bigger than the real earth. Who gives a fuck? All that matters is how fast it takes you to get from point A to B. In this sense Pokemon games haven't noticeably sped up or slown down. I'll play this game with speedtoggle because the map is too big. No I wont pay for your copy of the game, better buy two to make up for it.

I never said I wanted it to be 100000000000 sqaure kilometer, or that I would only pay 30 euros. I'd happily pay $60 or even $70 for a Pokemon game with a BoTW size map that actually had tonnes of content.

Yes.
If the game's regional dex is small af, like X/Y's it's less content. National Dex doesn't count because it was traditionally locked behind post-game and was all content from past games.

You can't look at a game like PLA or SV, which have open fields fully of Pokemon (content) and say "Hurr is so empee tho"

They're doing the "Big central city surrounded by basically nothing" shit again like they've been doing since X and Y. I hate this type of world design, its lazy and uninteresting. I miss regions like Hoenn that had multiple major cities, to me thats way more interesting.

Idk, having one big hub city seems practical to me, having everything of major interest being in one spot is just convenient, there's a reason nearly every game in the series does it. It only sucks when it leaves legitimately nothing for other cities and towns, but they look fine enough to me.

To me it anchors most of your activity into one singular city and doesn't incentivise exploring the world as much. You can already fast travel so from a gameplay perspective it really doesn't inconvenience the player as much and it makes the world feel far more interesting. Thats just my opinion. I just never liked the hub city approach

The map is slightly twisted, I think 'Portugal' is just generally on the left between the mountains and the bottom-left coast. The bottom-most part of the left is the Rock of Gibraltar.

Since reviewers have played a small portion of the game has anyone mentioned how the city/town feels? Are there sidequests? Lots of NPCs?

One of the great aspects of Legends (even though it only had one town) was that as you completed sidequests the town would change and evolve. NPCs got their own partner pokemon, markets filled up with more products, the clothing store had more outfits on the outside, etc.. Does SV have anything like that?

3 main stories are okay I guess, but only if it's written well. I fear SV isn't going to have as much content as they're advertising.

Nta but literally who gives 1 single fuck about “post game” content, I just want content, it doesn’t matter whether or not it’s accessible during the main game or locked to the postgame. Postgame tards will disagree but RS and XY are examples of games with plenty of content but essentially 0 post game content.
The map clearly has lots of areas to explore, but it’s not clear exactly how much content it all amounts to, like we don’t know how common trainer battles will be for example. We’ll just have to wait and see

However, there's a risk to have a lack of interest in the routes, since both Pokemon and trainers don't actively interact with you
But hey, the Titan Pokémon should make up for it. The gyms being basically just the Gym Leader is a bit disappointing, too
We also know from leaks that there is a legendary quartet to catch along the way
thus, I think the biggest issue is postgame - especially since you just KNOW they'll sell it back with DLC.

From the trailers and everything they’ve show us I’m a little underwhelmed with the environment. I think the way PLA would introduce you to different Pokémon in their own areas was really good, they felt tied to the map. It felt very natural to come upon pokemon as you walked around and was overall a very believable experience. SV doesn’t seem to capture that, at least in the parts they’ve shown. I honestly would’ve been happy with a PLA style game with updated textures and more towns/cities. Just gotta hope SV is saving its best areas for release.
