It's not an actual grammar rule but it's something a lot of people do unconciously due to flow kinda how native people instinctively know how to place adjectives without making it sound weird (Green Great Dragon meme.) If the sex of thing is mentioned earlier in the conversation it's logical for the sex to be carried throughout the conversation i.e.
>Hey bro how's your mom doing?>She's doing fineBut if the sex is not mentioned the non-gendered aspect of it usually carries throughout the conversation
