>>51832210There have been legends about Zoroarks being pranksters and one causing a you to hallucinate it's talking to you, but from what I understand nothing on this level.
A Zoroark recognizing someone that you take orders from, copying her identity AND voice, calling you over, and then communicating in your own language what it wanted you to do. It even responded to your questions, indicating that i not only can mimic human sounds like parrots can, but that it can actually understand human speech and can itself respond in that language in a voice that sounds like the person it's impersonating. That's human-level intelligence AND sentience right there.
It even understood that your superior officer constantly sends you out on missions and made you go on a fake mission that while it had a few suspicious tells resembled missions your officers would make you go out on all for tricking you into bringing it food.
It even understood that said officer tends to have a partner Muchlax always at her side and had it's (child? younger sibling? younger friend?) imitate that as well (Although a few people noticed it was standing on the wrong side).
This goes well beyond most other examples outside of the super-intelligent and super-powerful legendries like Mewtwo or Calyrex, and even those could only speak either telepathically or by possessing another human.
And the research group that is essentially the entire island's governing body just.... ignores this and brushes it aside.
