Why did they shill Ranger so much during the late 00s and then dropped it without even a 3ds game? Did it sell poorly? How would a Ranger work now on the Switch?

3DS game would use the same boring 3D assets, no thanks. They made the right call to end it at the soulful Sprite era.

And since Ranger had three parts, it sold well.

It wouldn't work, that's why they stopped making them.
Ranger was just one of the many touch screen based spin-offs of the DS that went the way of the Wii's mandatory motion controls.
Shame, I liked the whole setting of the series.

I'm so glad Nintendo has mostly grown out of its forced gimnick phase. It makes it so much easier to emulate newer Nintendo games. Its one of the reasons I don't want to revisit any of the DS or 3DS games

I also recall reading that people were way too rough with the wrangling mechanics and it ended with breaking a lot of DS stylus and touch screens. Nintendo probably wants to avoid another headache like that
