Is anyone else tired of the romhack "(X) game but it has Fairy types/Megas/Z-Moves/Dynamax/every trainer has a Smogon OU team" trend? Sometimes I just want to play a game but with all the Pokes available and no trade evolutions. I know that you can just use randomizer for that; I'm just a simple man with simple taste. That's why I enjoy stuff like Shin Red with minimal but needed changes.

it's ok to enjoy those things, it's just that they were already made and the firered engine is so advanced now there's little else to do but make NEW things because all the basic stuff has been done already

It is easier to just edit Fire Red or Emerald but with QoL from newer games than doing your own region, that is why most of them are like that. It wasn't like this 10 years ago, people actually tried to do their own games instead of doing hundred of Fire Red Smogon Edition.

people don't want a bunch of fakemon or some deep lore or story, they want a pokemon product that feels official, but made by a more competent developer

What's even the point of playing a Pokemon game (which most people do actually play for new Pokemon and to explore a world they haven't explored before) if it's just going to be the same game you've always played except with le hard boss fights

It's embarrassing what romhacking has become, I don't blame the initial wave of difficulty hacks, but I do blame pro nuzlocker or challenge faggots for ensuring they're the only romhacks being made anymore
