Kinda like trying to go on a really nice date with your ex right after a breakup to see if you can reignite that spark. There are certain things that the generation did that make me love it -- completely original dex to region, hard mode, seasons, monster designs- and plenty of things that generation started to make me hate it -- linear map, excessive cutscenes, excessive foodmons, gay mini-games.
So naturally you're going to have people shit on the shit things in the gen and people get defensive because of the good things so there's a constant discourse surrounding it.
