Let's improve some Signature Moves/Abilities that suck ass. Or, you can invent one for a mon that does not have any.

Pastel Veil needs to make the wielder immune to Poison moves altogether.

For those unaware, since Gen 7 they've been doing this thing where they make every newly-introduced family of Pokemon have either a signature ability or move to make them unique. In Gen 7 this was true for every family if you count the Ultra Beasts as one thing. IDK if it was true for ALL of them in Gens 7 and 8 but I know 95% of them have a signature

Not for Gen 8. Thievul, Dubwool, Pincurchin, and Indeedee lack a signature move or ability.

I know they usually increase the distribution of signature moves in the next generation, but it sucks major ass to see a good move on a complete shitmon and know you have to wait like 3 years for a chance that it gets to go on something half-decent

It's because it's harder to differentiate pokemon just through Type + Stat distribution, given sheer the number of pokemon there are now.
Giving each of them something they can call their own and lets them stand out from others is honestly a good thing imo. Especially in types like water or flying, where there's just so fucking many of them

No Retreat either needs to have a x2 boost or also trap the opponent in with Falinks.
Octolock would be busted on a real Pokemon so not much you can do without directly buffing Grapploct.

Metal would work too. I picked Quick because I feel that would be the way you get Ditto to suddenly go up to being crazy.
And because ditto still depends on your opponent, it's sorta fun and ridiculous either way.

Choice scarf still is there, but it's a lot less fun then letting either of those super specific items actually do anything now that imposter ditto gets rid of the need to live a turn to use transform.

Not really. Few of the pokemon that have said abilities can get within the required HP (33%) without being KO'ed outright, to say nothing about STAYING at that HP. You won't see those abilities being used in competitive play unless the Pokémon's other abilities are detrimental to the set being used.

I like pretty much all of these.

Here's some others:
>Rivalry
Attack power is increased by 50% against foes of the same gender, no effect on opposite gender.
Reason: Buffs the attack increase, removes the unnecessary debuff.
>Hyper Cutter
Powers up slashing/cutting moves by 20%
Reason: Lackluster effect, especially after several abilities got buffed to ignore Intimidate
>Anger Point
Increases likelihood of critical hits on user (by x%)
Reason: Increases the likelihood the beneficial effect will activate.
>Pick Up
User now also obtains items that were removed by Knock Off.
Reason: More reliable effect, less reliant on foe
>Water Compaction

Reason: Palossand is the only user and is weak to Water

Most people would, but naw, the user only picks up single-use items, like Berries.

Sand Compaction usually just increases defense by +2 when hit by Water moves. That's all. On a mon weak to Water (not to mention lackluster SpDef). Almost a insult given Mudsdale got Stamina the same generation.
Another possibility would be to change the +2 to a +1 on both defenses, since you're more likely to encounter special Water attacks anyway.

If that's the only concern, then it just need to be equal. So either simple weqkness is reduced by 50% (too broken since it just delete the weaknesses) or just diminish the reduction for the double weakness (to obtain an equal amount of damage, i think you need something like 62.5%, but i'm not sure)

I really like this line of design, ngl. I like each line to feel unique. In earlier gens were also done in shitmons (Swalot for example) buy I like that they try to go the extra mile to make each mon no matter how shitty to stand out

Not that we know of, but there's a good chance its evo may. Pokemon very rarely retain Pickup after evolving.

They're mostly fine, but the problem with Water Veil is that it's exclusively given to Water types, who are very rarely in danger of getting burned. I suppose if you really wanted to buff them, you could maybe make them take less damage from moves that can inflict those statuses to give them safe switch-ins, but that's all I got.
