Speaking of. Are BPDSP hacks a thing yet? I remember when it just came out people said that it could possibly be the easiest game so far to hack but I haven't kept up so I don't know if they've done all the region and roster expanding hacks one would expect.

Because the 3rd deminsion never actually plays a role in regular gameplay? Its a fixed camera angle, so its effectively 2D, even if they use 3D models to represent the world, its still projected in 2D. I guess if you wanted to you could call it 2.5D but it aint 3D

Gates exist in DPPt & HGSS but absent on RSE due to NDS hardware limitation.

FRLG doesn't even need gates too, but exist simply to keep it similar to RBGY
>Not in case of DPPt & HGSS which are in 3D. NDS inherited GBA's superior 2D quality, but 3D performance is dogshit and archaic. The entire Sinnoh is partitioned into several smaller segments, and gates were brought back as transition rooms so the game could prepare loading the next area every time you traveling to the next area.

This, you spend ages trying to reach the item or TM you need from your bag in DPPt. The only way to mitigate this issue is by pressing select to sort an item so the game doesn't load the icons and then cancel once you reach your desired item.

Why are hackers so insistent on doing shit like this? I can understand fiddling around with Gen II Kanto because it was severely undercooked. But HGSS Kanto was complete - it doesn't lack anything. They add two fuckin' regions to the game, so what's the point of having an useless dungeon full of Sandshrews and Clefairies?

I'm betting Cinnabar is un-erupted in this hack as well.

Just flip pages, it's objectively faster and icons make it more easy to search as well. 99% of complains about HGSS UI come from people that don't know how to use the touchscreen

Yeah, it's necessary. There's a lot of carryover between those two tilesets and they map it deliberately so the omitted parts of the tileset aren't in the player's view on the other side of the route gate. It doesn't help that Kanto has a very same-y tileset across the board generally speaking. Hoenn is a lot more diverse.
