So I've just started playing some romhacks, and I'm not sure if I'm having as much fun as I should. It seems like a lot of instances require mons specialized for individual bosses, and I hate having to grind my way into relevancy. A lot of the bosses just jump in with their bullshit and whoop your ass unless you research them prior. I've played Clover and sacred gold all the way through, working on renegade platinum now
>clover
>actually pretty funny at most points, the mons are outrageous and unique
>story is also self-aware but not gutter trash
>but holy shit the difficulty curve, the bosses are just randomly enormous ass-pains
>the biggest offender I encountered was Carlito, fuck that guy so hard. I had to make a specialized team just to pass his ass
>elite 4 was also a slog, I wanted to fucking die during a couple fights
>item limit is reasonable, still an asspain though
>had a lot of fun towards the beginning, got annoyed and just angry towards the end
>sacredgold
>probably the best UI and basic mechanics of any pokemon game aside from b2w2
>gyms were tough but pretty fair, moderate amount of grinding at most
>b2b archer and giovanni fight was cool, double battles en-route to safari zone were cute
>kimono girls were actually fucking annoying, their eeveelutions are tanky as shit
>got stumped a few times but never truly angry, always found a way around stuff and could use my favorite pokeymans
>probably my favorite hack thus far
>renegade (just before hearthome)
>pretty low key at the beginning of the game, then your ass really gets turned to grass (pun intended) after Eterna
>faggot teamsweeper puruglys, faggot mira with healing tanks or sweeping speedsters, aaron's mega gay crit build drapion
>fairy types in general are disgusting, only weak to shitty offensive types
>lots of grinding
Am I supposed to enjoy grinding these romhacks, or are there different options that aren't SO time-consuming? I want to beat these games with /my mons/ and not kill myself.
