It was a solid Pokemon experience in my opinion. I really don't understand why the core gen 4 titles always got so much flack while Black and White are always seen as the second coming of Christ in terms of the DS titles.

Based choice, P is better than DP any day, but all games are too slow, and shit G4 pokemon distribution. Still, is a good choice.
As for HGSS, is better to pick Crystal. I know, no Safari/Jade forest, and gimped in many Johto mons, but you get all Legendaries, and the Time Saving and Coin Case glitch is really good to have anything you want. Also, soulful tunes.

Its Gold & Silver, still one of the best game sequels of all time.
Then they just made a bunch of improvements upon it.
The next time they make a gold & silver remake itll also be a high point, if they add sevii and safari zone aka a more complete feeling kanto... with sevii being the home of variant kanto/ johto pokemon. Itll be absolute kino.

A very minor issue I have with HGSS is that they allowed you to catch Misdreavus just after beating Jasmine with Cliff Cave and Safari Zone but you can only get Dawn Stone after Nat Dex. About Nat Dex, once you get it, the game pretty much allows you to do everything and you have a amazing dex, Battle Frontier opens and you can do Kanto at your own pace which is amazing but it distracts me from progressing with the game. Very personal.

The entire DS Era was peak Pokemon desu.
We had a rough start with Diamond and Pearl, but Platinum cleaned that shit up with what a masterpiece it was.
HeartGold and SoulSilver were near perfection, only missing the Sevii Islands for an extended post game.
Black and White are mediocre with how tryhard Gary Stu the tragedy that is N is shilled.
But Black2 and White2 improve on it by simply btfo N and having a decent post game.
A Gray and Gray2 with a more defined Post Game would have been perfection.
Not to forget that you also had access to playing Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf green and FireRed on your DS.
