The stories are kinda the same in anime and manga but honestly the direction and some anime original stuff made the anime an experimental and unique experience while the manga feels like generic comedy. Also I feel like the humour works better in an anime format where you have voice acting, and the delivery from the actors plays a huge role and also sound effects, sudden camera changes, facial expressions etc. that can't be conveyed in a manga.
