What has Dawn, May, Serena, etc really accomplished that's on the scale of becoming the regonal champion? Anime Iris has never shown any interest in becoming Champion. The only reason they made her Champion is because she is Champion in the games. That's it. If they really wanted to believably show her progressing, then they could've just made her a Dragon master, which was her original goal in the anime anyway. Iris' development in JN felt forced, out of character for her, and inconsistent with what we know about her.

Whoever is making it seem like Iris started participating in Contests or something heavily off track is an autistic. How is it wildly out of character to do something that doesn’t contradict your goal and helps you become a strong Dragon user?

Lance isn’t a Dragon Master. It’s an honorary title given by people in the Unova region. Lance got his ass handed to him because he decided on using brute strength and spamming Hyper Beam. Even so it was a randomized match. How is that her fault?

Dawn already participated in every contest and got to show up in person to cheer on Ash for his most important battle. As far as I'm concerned, she won. Meanwhile, Iris gets sent home in tears with zero wins and still being inferior to Lance. Iris lost.
