>>51800442I was thinking about what to say If someone were to ask me this the other day, so here’s my thoughts, if you want a better story experience and don’t really intend to keep playing further, go with the original SM, If you want overall better gameplay and a bit more of a challenge, play the Ultra versions.
The only major difference between the story of both the OG and Ultra are the endings, I personally found the OG more enjoyable though, but with the ultra games you get more content out of it (it has a “delta-episode” epilogue story thing)
Here’s some things that iirc the ultra games adding
-Ultra versions
>a few new Pokémon (3, technically 4 new ultra beasts)>new forms (necrozma and lycanrock)>a few of the totem Pokémon are different and pose more of a challenge, most “boss” Pokémon throughout the story are sort of a challenge >story ending changed entirely >epilogue story added And I’m sure there’s a few returning mons that pop up in the wild but I don’t remember, and I think they fixed the encounter rates for some of the Gen 7 mons
