So he decided to show his kids, you don't need a fancy charizard or some weird legendary pokemon. You just need a good pal you can share an adventure with. He's not planning to be the champion, just to get onto TV and make himself and his kids proud and embarrassed of their old man.
His ace is his Dubwool, Shawn.
It's ability is Panicwool.
When entering a fight against an trainer who cheats, has modified stats, or abilities this pokemon's wool fluffs up and becomes an impenetrable shield of premium high grade fluff.
This counts as a Double furcoat/icescale/fluffy/huge power/ironbarbs effect. And negates all physical and special damage recovers 50% hp a turn and resets all status effects due to it's high quality texture.
This also Quintuples the users, and party members base stats granting themselves and party immunity to ability effects to.
Other than shawn his team consists of well loved farmhand Pokemon and His Emboar, raised from his very faithfull tepig, that tends to really enjoy fighting the female leaders.
If you beat him, he treats you to a home cooked meal, some fresh moomoo milk and some moonshine.
