>>51807322>It's good to have a check against the highest BST mons so they don't reign unopposedI don't disagree because dragons really were oppressive.
>Again, it's good to have checks against the strongest things. Fairy serves an important balance.Fighting and Dark already have types meant to check them. Most fighting types in gen 5 couldn't do shit to Amoonguss, Latias or Jellicent and most Dark types couldn't touch Excadrill or Keldeo and had to run Sucker Punch (if it was even an option) so they didn't get fucked by Focus Blast Alakazam. And as a matter of fact Steel, one of the types that checked Dark, was nerfed just so Fairy could be even more centralising. Dark wasn't even that strong in Gen 5, Tyranitar and Hydreigon were the only real big threats and they're both pokemon that wouldn't lose much from having a type other than Dark
>It's meant to be a counter to those previously mentioned typesComplete non-sequitur. The point is that Steel and Poison are shit offensive types thus mitigating Fairy's weaknesses. That has nothing to do with Fairy's role as a check to Fighting and Dark
>It's given mostly to relatively frail Pokemon and their weaknesses are easy enough to exploit.>Clefable is frail>Sylveon is frail>Tapu Fini and Tapu Lele are frail?????
>With dual types they're also generally weak to common offensive moves as well, such as fire, electric, and ground. The best non-legendary fairy types, Sylveon and Clefable, are pure Fairy. The best legendary fairy type, Zacian, actively loses both of Fairy's weaknesses and learns Close Combat, Wild Charge, Solar Blade and other great coverage moves to mitigate its weaknesses. As a matter of fact, Fairy / Steel might very well be the best typing in the game, period.
