>>51811891Unlike the original Kanto games, you can catch Onix here in the first cave, and getting a Metal Coat to evolve it with is also easy. If you want to do it the lazy way, you can just buy the item from the GTS. Then just find someone to trade the Onix back and forth with, which will also give you some social interaction. :)
Why exactly I chose Onix? Because why not? It's got great defense and its attack isn't bad for early game. :)
