Only dragonite line holds the entire type in the game. Easily solved by changing at least gyarados or aerodactyl to Dragon so there is more parody

Few Pokémon outside the caterpie and weedle line from the forest at the beginning hold this type, which was the only weakness of one of the strongest typings(psychic) in the gen. These are just my additions if I /HAD/ to make any

Make Kabutops line rock/bug
Make Venomoth line bug/psychic
Make Dodrio line flying/fighting
Make ghost SE against psychic
Make Ice resist dragon
Make poison SE against water
Make Aerodactyl rock/dragon
Give bug some actually useful moves like X-scissor
Give ghost a good move like Shadow Ball
Swap Gengar’s ATK and SPA
Split special attack and special defense a la Gen2

Honestly, where the Kanto Pokemon lack is mostly in abilities. Their abilities are all early gen, which means most are a snooze fest. I'd change up abilities quite a bit, maybe giving some alternate forms and whatnot.

why? the whole point of ghost type was to give gastly/haunter/gengar intangible properties(immune to normal/fighting). cubone and marowak are not incorporeal

now if you told me agatha should have a marowak, sure, it would perhaps be more on theme than an arbok but that's as far as the connection should go.

They were REALLY obessed with certain dual types in Kanto
Rock/Ground
Poison/Grass
Poison/Bug
Normal/Flying
Water/Ice

It's kind of shocking when you see someing like Poliwrath, Exgutor, the Crobat line, the Nidos that were unique typings for various gens and even still rare enough typings today. Since Pooper, is the Gengar line the only Gen one mon with a unique typing?

it's that they werent designing pokemon with type chart autism in mind, they just assigned types that felt natural

rock and ground are both earth/mineral related
lots of plants are poisonous
lots of insects are venomous
most regular birds fly
water and ice are different states of the same matter

they weren't like "well we havent done a poison/electric type combo yet so let's make a salamander that plays electric guitar so we can justify that type"
