IIRC Gamefreak was supposedly blindsided by Nintendo's decision to merge their home console and handheld lines, consequently struggling to create games which are serviceable for the Switch. Or at least that's the cope some people have come up with as to why SwSh felt so underwhelming in comparison to both previous Pokemon titles as well as other Nintendo flagship titles at the time: They didn't have the experience to develop for a home console. But I can believe that Gamefreak management never thought their product would have to measure up to something like BotW someday.

Yet despite being totally clueless and delivering a subpar product, Sword and Shield went on to become the bestselling Pokemon games since Red and Blue. Gamefreak truly must have the Mandate of Heaven or some shit, there seems to be nothing that can trip them up.

What weird conclusion? If anything the last arc of the main game is pretty well paced and written, the biggest problem of any is the questionable motivations via Rose.

SWSH’s story problem isn’t the climax, which is the best part, it’s everything that came before it, or lack there of
