I'd like to throw out in regards to obvious calculations and the fact that sprig seems to be the shillmon that Sprig3 probably won't be super frail. There's a reason why only Inteleon is made of fucking glass.
Its just a really bad thing for viability in VGC to not have reasonable bulk and thats the format they "care for" in regards to having changes in.

Even in the format where they get overwritten constantly.
I don't recall how the initial formats went, but Rillabooms statline and overall qualities are just much better for doubles so i'm not sure it was ever bad per say.
I'd wager Rillaboom got some stuff because Grookey seems to be their other shill starter of this gen; so while he isn't the marketable one, he's directly tied to and basically represents it.
Croc v duc is actually pretty hard to guess in regards to this as they both are classic candidates for this placement in regards to this idea. I'd believe Croc though, despite more focus on duck currently.
