That's not what imperial metrics were made for. It advocated to be a versatile system open for everyone with practically no extra measure gear, such as, people were encouraged to use their actual thumbs to measure things in the past, but due to not everyone has the same size for their thumbs, it had to set a fixed number the same way as international metrics system, therefore, it became pointless because it lost its reason to exist

Everybody can create a measure system, and no matter how ridiculous it will be useful in a specific case, but that doesn't mean that is as good as the normal ones.

For example I can create a measure system that it's only useful for measuring cylindrical things such as penises and snakes, no same person (including myself) will say that is as good as the metric system.

if you really think about it, basing your temperature mesurement system off of water's boiling and melting points is pretty dumb. in celsius, 0 degrees is pretty chilly, and 100 degrees is well beyond lethal, with 50 degrees still being really hot. in fahrenheit, 0 degrees is very cold, and 100 degrees is very hot, with 50 degrees being a fairly moderate tempurature.

People that don't work with length measurements have no opinion here. Imperial is much easier to work with construction because there's less conversions as things are always measured in feet and inches, with metric you have to convert meters to centimeters to millimeters and even though it's just moving a decimal place it's really annoying. Plus if you're north American every building code is made up in imperial and then got converted to metric, so have fun remembering 1 foot = 305 mm and other conversions for that one job that decided to use metric because fuck you. Of course metric is better for more precise measurements, but thats more of machining thing like for engines or other stuff like that, but imperial is used more with more common trades. Like with carpentry, they call it a 2x4 not a 52x104 because that would be retarded.

More often than not, we just use centimeters since it's on literally every ruler in the United States. Otherwise, we can just go .28 inches or something.
We rarely have to measure anything that precisely unless it's an engineering thing.
That said, we do have twips(1.7~ nm,) mils(1000th of an inch), point(1/72th of an inch), pica(1/7th of an inch), and then inch officially specified.

I want to apologize, I was wrong. The pica is 12 points, or 12/72. In a momentary miscalculation, I simplified that down to 1/7th, but it's actually 1/6th. I just realized what I have done.

Im pretty sure he meant body temperature in which case yeah 40 celcius is an almost fatal fever in Fahrenheit and 40 Fahrenheit means youve frozen to death. As a carpenter in the US i can say using imperial is annoying as fuck but you figure it out pretty quick. Lets say im cutting boards on the ground for someone whos up on a roof. He'll call out 4ft8inches with a heavy 16th. This lets me know when i cut it at 4ft8inch im just gunna mark it slightly past the 8inch mark on my tape measure but just before the 16th inch mark after 4'8". I can understand if none of this makes any sense to you since you didnt grow up with it but its worked for us just fine and hell we even use imperial for pretty much everything other than carpentry and travel as far as i know. If we just swapped tape measures to meters/centimeters the fucking profession would swap to that overnight.
